I work with family and private foundations to help successfully navigate key transition moments: start-up, ramping up, strategic and succession planning, and spend-down. A common thread in this experience has been developing shared agreement among diverse participants, incorporating experiential learning, and knowing how to operate in dynamic “gray” areas.
My work as a grantmaker and advisor has spanned place-based, issue-oriented and policy approaches with family and private foundations across the country. The navigator role has also entailed facilitating board and staff retreats (and “difficult” conversations), evaluation and program development, and strengthening organizational capacity through improved governance, management and operations.
