Kathy Tenhula chairs the board of the Frechette Family Foundation, where she has served as a board member for twenty-seven years alongside her sister, husband, brother-in-law, and, more recently, her daughter. Kathy and her sister, Kristy, are daughters of Patricia and Peter Frechette, founders of the Frechette Family Foundation.
Kathy is a dedicated and passionate life-long learner and educator. She was an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Education at American University, a dedicated volunteer assistant at The Lab School of Washington, and an elementary school teacher and reading specialist in Montgomery County Public Schools. She has also served on the boards of several nonprofits in the Washington, DC and the Northern Virginia area. She currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board for The Dream Project in Arlington, VA.
Kathy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Vanderbilt University, a master’s degree in reading education from Towson University, and a master’s degree in special education with a concentration in learning disabilities from American University. She lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband, and enjoys spending time with their three adult children.
