Grace Tenhula is a third-generation board member of the Frechette Family Foundation and co-creator of the Frechette Leadership and Governance Program (FLAG). FLAG engages third-generation family members in a curriculum focused on philanthropic practice, board governance, and grantmaking. The program aims to cultivate leadership among family members while advancing the foundation’s mission to partner with innovative organizations and leaders to promote opportunities for children and families, with a current focus on supporting youth experiencing homelessness.
Grace also serves on the Board of Educare DC, a zero-to-five Early Childcare Center dedicated to eliminating the achievement gap for young children in poverty.
She earned a degree in Elementary Education at Skidmore College and taught fifth grade in Oakland, California. Grace later transitioned to Museum Education as Assistant Program Manager and Education Coordinator at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco.
In 2020, Grace returned home to Washington, DC where she is an artist and works at a family-owned home and gifts store in her neighborhood. She is passionate about collaboratively creating and maintaining spaces that foster authentic community connection.
