Eleisha Nelson-Reed is the Executive Director of The Powell Foundation, a private family foundation dedicated to advancing the quality of life for residents in Harris, Travis, and Walker Counties (Texas). Under her leadership, the Powell Foundation shepherds a $20 million annual grantmaking program in support impactful initiatives in education, the arts, conservation, and human services. With over two decades of experience in the non-profit sector, Eleisha has a proven track record in strategy, leadership development, organizational development, and program management. Prior to joining the Powell Foundation, Eleisha was associate partner with Bellwether Education Partners and senior director for The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems. Her career also includes extensive experience in two large urban school systems where she supported instructional and talent management initiatives. Currently, Eleisha serves on the boards of Neuhaus Education Center and The Highland Project. Eleisha holds a bachelor’s degree from Rice University and a master’s degree from the University of Houston. In her spare time, Eleisha enjoys reading, indulging in great food, and watching NFL football with her husband and son.
