Al Castle serves as executive director and treasurer of the Samuel N. and Mary Castle Foundation. Mr. Castle has served as an educator, author, lecturer, community volunteer, fund raiser and non-profit manager for decades. His accomplishments in the above fields have been noted in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. The author of two books and over 50 book chapters, journal articles and encyclopedia essays, Mr. Castle is a 5-time recipient of National of Endowment for the Humanities grants and is a past William Coolidge Fellow at Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colorado State University (BA, MA in History) and has also studied at the University of New Mexico, the University of Virginia, and Columbia University. His research and writing has focused on philosophy, diplomatic history, Hawaiian history, the history of American philanthropy, and foundation management.
