One of the most common questions we receive at the National Center is “How do our policies and practices compare with other family foundations?” They want to know specifically what their peers do in governance, grantmaking, and management of their foundations. On this teleconference, you’ll learn about the National Center’s important new research in the first-ever random survey of family foundations. National Center Senior Fellow and nationally known consultant Alice Buhl will discuss what can be learned from this research, undertaken as part of the National Center’s Pursuit of Excellence Assessment Process. A founding board member of the National Center, Buhl led the development of POE that enables foundations to assess their current performance and develop an action plan to achieve higher levels of effectiveness. Buhl is a Senior Associate and Director of Philanthropic Services for Lansberg, Gersick & Associates and has extensive experience in philanthropy and nonprofit management.
