Maria Cabildo to Lead the Durfee Foundation

The Durfee Foundation announced that, after a national search that yielded more than 350 applicants, it selected Maria Cabildo as its incoming CEO. Cabildo will assume the role in January 2025 and succeeds longtime CEO Claire Peeps.

Jason Terrell is New CEO of the R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation

Terrell joins the Dobbs Foundation from the Walton Family Foundation and succeeds David Weitnauer, NCFP’s Distinguished Fellow, in the role. Jason co-founded Profound Gentlemen, a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing the representation of male educators of color, which the Dobbs Foundation has supported.

Anne Sterchi, Leader of the J.B. Fuqua Foundation, Dies

Longtime Atlanta philanthropic leader Anne Sterchi died in August. Anne was a well-respected family philanthropy practitioner and had a profound impact on the Atlanta community.

NCFP Fellow Erin Borla Releases Season 2 of Funding Rural

Erin Borla, executive director and trustee of the Roundhouse Foundation, has released a second season of her podcast, Funding Rural. The second season elevates voices from across rural, remote, and Indigenous spaces who are working to bring change to the areas and communities they serve.

The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation Announces Significant Increase in Conservation Funding

In partnership with the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation has announced its plans to double its investment in science-driven conservation efforts. The foundations are directing $16MM across 10 projects.

The Hewlett Foundation Reflects on Shifts to its Philanthropy Program

“To date, our process has included extensive research and data analysis, a grantee survey, expert interviews, and focus groups with grantees and other organizations and partners, which have yielded rich insights about the state of the philanthropic sector and opportunities for Hewlett to employ its unique assets in encouraging a more effective and efficient sector,” explains Marselle Alexander Ozinkas.
