Bainum Family Foundation Appoints Jacquelyn Davis as CEO and President

Jacquelyn Davis will become CEO and President of the Bainum Family Foundation in July 2019. This will be the first time an executive outside the Bainum family will lead the organization. The Bainum Family Foundation, established in 1968, works to improve the quality and availability of resources for children living in poverty. Davis is a nationally recognized social entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, author and speaker on education issues. Most recently, she co-founded and served as Partner of Education Forward DC, where she led the $11 million human capital portfolio of a regional philanthropic fund.

John and Wauna Harman Foundation Appoints New Executive Director

The John and Wauna Harman Foundation, a nationally-focused foundation championing public education around end-of-life care planning announced Julie Boudreau as their Executive Director. This appointment coincides with the Foundation’s celebration of its 20-year anniversary. As Executive Director, Ms. Boudreau will guide activities and grantmaking in support of the Foundation’s focus on improving “upstream” advance care planning initiatives, with a particular interest in underrepresented communities.

Rebecca Rimel to Step Down as CEO of Pew Charitable Trusts

Rebecca Rimel, who has led Pew Charitable Trusts for three decades and oversaw its transformation from a foundation to a charity, will step down when a successor is named. Rimel joined Pew in 1983 as its health program manager after a career in nursing at the University of Virginia. She became Pew’s executive director in 1988 and was named CEO in 1994. During her tenure, the charity’s staff has grown from fewer than 10 to more than 1,000 in the United States and abroad.

Ruth Mott Foundation Board Adds Two Trustees

The Ruth Mott Foundation welcomed two new trustees, Kyle McCree and Marise Mott Meynet Stewart. McCree currently serves as the Community Affairs Area Manager for Consumers Energy, where he is responsible for implementing advocacy, community. Stewart is continuing the Mott family’s long tradition of philanthropy in the city of Flint. She is a granddaughter of the late C.S. and Ruth Rawlings Mott and the daughter of Ruth Mott Foundation Board Chair Maryanne Mott.

Phillip Henderson Named Senior Fellow of the Center for Community Investment

The Center for Community Investment announced that Phillip Henderson has joined as a Senior Fellow. Henderson most recently served as president of the Surdna Foundation. During his tenure, the Foundation focused intently on advancing social justice through programs focusing on building communities with sustainable environments, inclusive economies, and thriving cultures. Under his leadership, Surdna committed $100 million of its endowment to impact investing. As a Senior Fellow, Henderson will support CCI’s work to engage a broader set of actors in community investment by examining the role that philanthropy can play in building local investment ecosystems.

Social Impact Exchange and Morgan Stanley to Host Conference

The Social Impact Exchange and Morgan Stanley will host The Exchange 2019 conference from June 4-5 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. The theme of The Exchange 2019 is Shaping the Future Together: Philanthropy as Change Capital. A variety of transformational approaches will be featured, including multi-sector collaboration, movement building, public/private partnerships, systems change strategies, and game-changing innovation. This year’s attendees will include more than 400 high-net-worth donors, foundations, individual philanthropists, wealth advisors, and industry leaders all coming to learn together and to explore collaboration opportunities.
