WASHINGTON, DC; January 8, 2019 – Virginia Esposito, founder and president of the National Center for Family Philanthropy, will transition to a new role as Senior Fellow at the end of 2019, NCFP announced today. Ms. Esposito has led the philanthropy nonprofit organization since its creation in 1997.

“The board is excited to announce this next stage for Ginny, especially since it means that she will still be available to us and to the field of family philanthropy,” said Katherine Lorenz, chair of NCFP’s Board of Directors and president of The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation. “Ginny is the leading authority on family philanthropy and this new role allows NCFP and our families to continue to benefit from her unmatched expertise, experience, and service.”

As Senior Fellow, Ms. Esposito will focus on research, writing, and developing intellectual property for the National Center for Family Philanthropy. She will also remain available for special consultancies with NCFP donor families.

“This transition allows me to keep doing the work that I love with giving families,” Ms. Esposito said. “I think of it not as stepping down, but rather stepping up to a role where I can focus on serving families and the field. I’m very grateful to the board for making this opportunity possible.”

She will continue to serve as president through the transition to a successor. Board member Sanford Cardin, president of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, is chairing the committee that will conduct the national search.

The NCFP Board of Directors also announced a fundraising opportunity in 2019 to honor Ginny’s founding role and more than three decades of distinguished work for the field of philanthropy, and to build future capacity for the National Center for Family Philanthropy Fellows Program that will strengthen best practices for family philanthropy on a national scale.

The National Center for Family Philanthropy is the only national nonprofit dedicated exclusively to families who give and those who work with them. NCFP provides encouragement, community, and the resources families need to transform their values into effective giving that makes a lasting impact on the communities they serve.
